Telena Cruz Nelson is a Democratic senator in the Guam Legislature, first elected in 2016, and is the first female combat veteran elected to the Legislature. An educator with the Guam Department of Education, she is an officer in the Guam Army National Guard who deployed to Afghanistan in 2010–2011. She has held leadership posts including Majority Whip, Vice Speaker, and Majority Leader.
